SPECIAL THANKS. I would like to thank Paul Watson for his sponsorship of several lead figure collections on this blog. Having decided to clear his spare/surplus figures, he generously forwarded them on with no other requirement than they deserved to be restored. I would also like to mention George S. Mills, who kindly furnished a quantity of plastic figures which allowed me to complete another five or six military units, serving in several collections.

Halifax Garrison, Nova Scotia

The Royal Navy garrison at Halifax has just received additional personnel. Completed a few days ago, six more gunners in sennet hats, a rating with a telescope, and another with a cutlass but now adjusted to carry a naval ensign. I had hoped to keep the paintwork on these figures, which was quite nice. Unfortunately the shade of blue was distinct, and I really wanted to have the entire naval contingent in the same dark navy-blue.

In addition to the blue, my white naval gun crew have gained an officer, with repaired telescope.

(Figures furnished by Paul Watson.)

  4. I like those gun emplacements! The guns are too small for the Citadel or York Redoubt, must be point defense on George's Island in the middle of the harbour.

    1. Ross, I do have a converted 4.7 naval gun, which is operated by seven white uniformed naval figures, that should help. But to be honest, there really isn't any threat to Halifax in the campaign, its more likely the Empire will take Maine, or something else on the eastern seaboard...... but Montreal is threatened.

  5. Great figures and scenery MGB - I like the contrast of the "Modern" building alongside the old. Chaps with telescopes always say nautical!

    1. Thanks MJT, that plastic building came in a box with farm animals, costing £4 in a charity shop. I was just lucky to visit that day! I think the rating with the telescope is an old Timpo, or reproduction.

    1. Thanks Paul, Admiral Watson's Naval force is having a massive effect on the Dominion campaign, the Americans may have taken Ottawa but may lose the state of Maine. Yes, the naval figures have become a collection in their own right.

  7. Well Garrisoned indeed! No one would attack, would they?

    1. I don't think so, the Empire is threatening the entire East Coast of the USA, so they cannot even aid Maine. While their regular troops are mainly in Ontario, threatening Montreal and Toronto.
