SPECIAL THANKS. I would like to thank Paul Watson for his sponsorship of several lead figure collections on this blog. Having decided to clear his spare/surplus figures, he generously forwarded them on with no other requirement than they deserved to be restored. I would also like to mention George S. Mills, who kindly furnished a quantity of plastic figures which allowed me to complete another five or six military units, serving in several collections.

FAYETTEVILLE INDEPENDENT LIGHT INFANTRY

This colourful unit can claim to have been originally formed in 1793, in the town of Fayetteville, North Carolina. It is still operational as a National Guard unit to this day, and this is their late 19th century dress uniform.

When I purchased some badly broken W.Britains lead guardsmen I noted some of them were slightly larger in scale. Rather than just mixing them in, I decided to form these figures into a skirmishing unit. Milliput was used to create their epaulettes. The fifer is a plastic draftee. If I get any more larger castings in any mixed box, they will be drafted into this unit.

    1. Indeed, Ross, and its nice to form their unit from lead figures that just looked out of place if integrated.

    1. Cheers Mark, painting them on just wasn't an option on these castings, they are large, probably 56mm?
