SPECIAL THANKS. I would like to thank Paul Watson for his sponsorship of several lead figure collections on this blog. Having decided to clear his spare/surplus figures, he generously forwarded them on with no other requirement than they deserved to be restored. I would also like to mention George S. Mills, who kindly furnished a quantity of plastic figures which allowed me to complete another five or six military units, serving in several collections.

Completed Projects (Die-cast vehicles and Figures)

First up are those Crescent Saladin armoured cars I recently picked up. Paint stripped and repaired, have adopted  the British camouflage used in Aden in 1967.

Next up is that badly scratched Lone Star Radar Truck, now with it's new RAF blue paint job. The coat of varnish has gone on very nicely.

The third is the broken Benbros despatch rider's motorbike. Quite a bit of work here, had to construct the top section of the control panel/handlebars, and the rear mudguard. Then devise a system to securely fix the bike to the base. Decided to convert one of the spare Lone Star paratroopers into a rider. As part of the 7RHA his job is to confirm the route for the artillery vehicles.
Original condition

Finally, this Britains lead farm lady has been repaired and repainted. A nice addition to my rural community.

  1. I especially love the conversion of the motorbike rider. That is very clever.

    1. Cheers Q. I have so far converted three of these figures, one is a map reading officer, another is a gunner, this was the tricky one. I am determined to get some value out of this particular casting, and still have three more. Anyhow, that bike was going to need a rider. With limited funds, I can't afford any losses, lol.

  2. All four vehicles look amazing Michael! The conversion of the bike rider is perfect and the farm lady is beautiful! I always like to see the different civilians in your games, they add texture and realism to the scene!

    1. Cheers Brad. I have just gone back to the bike and reduced the control panel. Its much better now. Have also altered the placing of the figure so that it links with the handlebars. The bike now looks practically the same as the original model. Regards. That civilian will work well with my Schleswig collection.

  3. MIchael, another excellent set of conversions or repaints, especially the motorcyclist / former para.

    1. Cheers Mark, I should upload a photo of it's second restoration. Have angled the figure better to the handlebars, and vastly improved the instrument panel. Now looks as it did when first made.
