I'm blaming this on our June heatwave, have been slowly augmenting my Saracen/Turkish Medievals. Yesterday, I revamped a couple of Deetail figures for service in the Sultan's Mamluk Foot Guards.
STATE OF THE COLLECTION, with morale ratings. Have just completed an inventory and can now muster the following.
Sultan, mounted 1 A
Seated clergy 1 A
Captains on foot 3 A
Blue barded Mamluk Horse 6 A
Green barded Mamluk Horse 6 A
Artillerists 4 C
Guard Mamluk armoured on foot 6 A
Sultan's troops armoured 8 B
Armoured Ghazi 8 B
Archers, armoured 7 C
Archers, no armour 4 D
Javelinmen, armoured 7 B
Javelinman, no armour 1 D
Levy, red 8 D
Levy, blue 8 D
Levy, black 8 D
The Sultan certainly has a splendid looking Army MGB!
ReplyDeleteCheers MJT. It was never planned, in purchasing some Medievals I picked up a few Saracens. Now, I love the idea of using them in some smaller level games.

It's truly amazing how beautiful Deetail figures can be with your wonderful paintwork Michael! Thank you for sharing your excellent collection!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brad, there is so much detail in these Deetail Saracens, its a shame not to highlight it with some paintwork. Thats my view.

They look good. I have employed many of these figures and also the HK copies of them, in my Fezian army.
ReplyDeleteHi Q. Anyone who wargames Medieval armies is missing out in not having something from the Islamic world, be it Moorish, Saracen, or Turk. And the Deetail range has all the charm of characters appearing in Arabian Nights. (Just a shame the Deetail range didn't include a crossbowman and an archer
