Just working on the previous box of figures when this second batch arrived. Its very mixed, but some interesting items to work with. Total cost £12.45.

This is my record of collecting and gaming in this scale. Periods covered are Medievals in Italy, Saracens and Turks, the Schleswig Holstein Wars, 2nd Sino-Japanese War, WW2, and modern African conflicts. My on-going fictional campaign is set in North America c.1890 in which the United States invades the Dominion of Canada. Have also raised small collections for Ruritania, based on the 1952 Zenda movie. Also Zubrowka, based on the Grand Budapest Hotel film of 2014. MGB
Some useful bits and pieces in this batch .
ReplyDeleteYes, Tony, i can see some useful figures for completing units, and also some novelty figures. I want a few 12 figures strong battalions on both sides, and some light formations typically 6-8 figures, but my house rules do allow a firing unit that only musters 3 figures if I end up with a few oddments.

More lead goodness - I like the civilians!
ReplyDeleteMJT, they typically sell for about £3 each plus postage so its always better to get them in a job lot. Most of them need replacement arms but any casting seems to look ok.

Good haul. I agree re. Job lots and price if you are prepared to do the repairs and sort the scrap.
ReplyDeleteA useful country Maid turned nurse, camp follower or vivandiere?
Yes indeed Mark, have just paint stripped this second box, and drilled new rifles to those in the first box that needed it. Its a hassle I could do without, to be honest. Made worse as many will be drafted, much prefer doing the 'special' and individual extras, more interesting. I have a few farming civilians and animals now, and they add a lot to the visual appeal/gaming table even if their military contribution is slight. I think I might base them together as a couple.
