SPECIAL THANKS. I would like to thank Paul Watson for his sponsorship of several lead figure collections on this blog. Having decided to clear his spare/surplus figures, he generously forwarded them on with no other requirement than they deserved to be restored. I would also like to mention George S. Mills, who kindly furnished a quantity of plastic figures which allowed me to complete another five or six military units, serving in several collections.

PLASTIC FARMERS and MORE

Just acquired four more plastic farming characters. Three of them were damaged but at only £4.50 delivered I didn't mind restoring them. This gives me nineteen rural civilians, but my collection could still use some more town folk. Also included are a few photos of others recently completed. Its been a good run clearing odd figures in my spares box.

    1. Hi Tony, yes, they made the shepherd later in plastic during the 1960s. I have two, normally painted in blue or green smocks. The repaired campfire is part of that batch of French toys I picked up, made by Clairet Toys, 1970s. Indeed, the still is from the 1952 movie, which inspired my Zenda collection.

  2. Beautiful restorations Michael! I especially like the campfire and the colonial figures, very well done! Your civilians will come in very handy! H. G. Wells complained of a lack of civilian figures for his games, I don't think that you'll have that problem!

    1. Cheers Brad, my rural community is more than adequate, but my town folk are but a handful. My plan is to increase them to about twelve figures. Yes, the camp fire was well worth repairing, steel rods and miliput did the job, and then some paintwork. Just fighting a Dominion wargame!
