SPECIAL THANKS. I would like to thank Paul Watson for his sponsorship of several lead figure collections on this blog. Having decided to clear his spare/surplus figures, he generously forwarded them on with no other requirement than they deserved to be restored. I would also like to mention George S. Mills, who kindly furnished a quantity of plastic figures which allowed me to complete another five or six military units, serving in several collections.

SOVIET NAVY ARRIVES

Decided to augment my Soviet WW2 naval forces by constructing a river craft. Variously described as a river gunboat, or a landing craft, it will make an interesting piece in any amphibious scenario. For gaming purposes it will have a crew of six.

  1. They look relatively easy to make and you have produced some excellent models.

    1. Hi Q, it took about four hours over three days to construct and paint. Cost wise, about 50p.

    1. Thank you MJT. When working on a budget while wanting more toys, you devise other systems, lol.

  5. Love the gunboats, they remind me of the ones John Ruddle used in his garden wargames.

    1. Brian, that name rang a bell, I remember seeing photos of concrete buildings and docked naval vessels. You instantly took me back to the 1970s, although I think Ruddle's garden display pre-dated that. Lovely stuff, it's why I crossed over from wargame figures to gaming with toy soldiers. Although collections overlap, there remains a difference, in several ways.
